Hawk Haven Vineyard 2015 Signature Series Syrah

87 points

Very young, tiny production Syrah grown in New Jersey's largest AVA. Nose is slightly subdued fro the variety with aromas of strawberry and blueberry made more interesting by a meaty minerally note -- think raw dry aged beef.

Medium-light in body, the red berry-dominated palate shows a bit more tannin than you might expect given the body. Delicate notes of black pepper and meaty minerality bring complexity to strawberry and red raspberry flavors. A nice bit of juicy acidity keeps things fresh and the finish extends nicely.
