Catoctin Breeze Vineyard 2015 Syrah

91 points

Spicy, tar-tinged nose with red cherries, sassafras, grilled woody herbs and vanilla. Complex and medium-bodied, the palate shows bright red cherries, tar, black pepper, more grilled herbs and spicy oak. Borders on too much oak for me personally, but toes the line due to a nice bit of freshness that combines with medium tannins to create great structure that should serve this wine well for many years.

Best on day three open, you might want to decant this one for a few hours if you're going to drink it anytime soon.
