SUHRU Wines 2017 Sauvignon Blanc
It’s nice to find a North Fork sauvignon blanc that is sub-$20 — it’s exceedingly rare these days. That the wine delivers the flavors and qualities that make Long Island sauvignon blanc so appealing doesn’t hurt either.
Made from grapes planted on the old Peconic Bay Winery property in 2008 and raised entirely in stainless steel, it offers green apple and melon aromas and flavors that are accented by notes of lemon-lime, fresh-cut hay and a certain — though distant — spiced apple flavor as it warms.
It's not the most effusive or concentrated example of Long Island sauvignon, but it's a nice summer sipper.
