Galen Glen Vineyard 2017 Stone Cellar Cabernet Franc

Galen Glen Vineyard 2017 Stone Cellar Cabernet Franc

90 points

Juicy, fresh and unmistakably cabernet franc, this unoaked example from the Lehigh Valley AVA starts with fresh red raspberries on the nose with layers of woodsy herbs and some faint floral qualities.

Fresh and framed by acidity rather than tannin, there is a pure, just-crushed quality to the fruit flavors – raspberry again but also some blackberry – with more savory herbs and a dusting of cocoa powder. The finish is long and fresh. This is the kind of wine I like to drink as summer becomes fall.
