Petoskey Farms 2018 Marquette

90 points

Fresh to the point of being reminiscent of a harvest-season crush pad, this 100% Marquette smells intensely of black cherry and cherry skins with hints of red apple, cocoa powder, and caramelized sugar.

Punchy and just as fresh, the palate shows bright acidity with flavors of black cherry, blueberry compote, spice, and some dark roast coffee. As it sits open for about an hour, a pretty layer of Xmas spice emerges, bringing complexity.

This is a beautiful expression of Marquette – one that doesn't try to hide it's acidity-forward nature or bludgeon it with new oak. Well done.
