Buttonwood Grove Winery 2019 Rosé

90 points

Made from 100% cabernet franc, this rosé smells like strawberries, strawberry husk, raspberry, and watermelon rind with savory summer herbs at the edges.

That beautiful balance between bright red fruit and savory herbaceousness continues on a palate that shows a nice bit of mid-palate concentration and weight, thanks to subtle residual sugar that is balanced by juicy, citrusy acidity. As it warms, there is a river rock minerality that peeks through, adding another layer of complexity.

At $16, this is well-priced for spring and summer sipping any night of the week, particularly with seasonal foods. But don't drink it all now. Save a bottle or three for Thanksgiving, where I bet it will shine.
