Forge Cellars 2018 Sunrise Hill Dry Riesling

91 points

The Sunrise Hill Vineyard is a meticulously tended vineyard on the west side of Cayuga Lake, making it the only vineyard Forge works with that isn't on the east side of Seneca Lake – and as you'd expect, the expression here is quite different from the winery's other single-vineyard wines.

Fruity and forward, the nose has a concentrated tangerine intensity that I don't find a lot, along with peaches and white flowers and a hint of savory, sea breeze minerality.

Broad, ripe and textural, that citrusy intensity continues on the palate. There is a certain creaminess on the mid-palate with an unusual hint of white vanilla that mingles with more peach and saline notes. The finish is long and citrus-driven with a distinct salinity at the very end.
