Idol Ridge Winery 2019 Smith Brothers Farm Reserve Riesling

90 points

The fruit for this riesling was grown at Smith Brothers Farm on Sodus Bay, rather than in the Finger Lakes AVA, so it's not surprising that it is a unique expression of the grape. The vines were also removed after the 2019 harvest, so this is the last wine from that site.

The nose bursts with passionfruit and layers of peach, grapefruit, and white flowers.

Very fresh and focused, the palate leans a bit more peachy and grapefruit-y with the passionfruit taking half a step back. It has a feathery feel, but there is plenty of concentration here. The finish is pretty and floral.
