Don’t be distracted by the wines being made here for tourists not accustomed (or interested in) the best that the Finger Lakes region has to offer. This riesling from a not-so-great vintage smells of very-ripe peaches and citrus oil with notes of wet slate and petrichor. As it warms, a whisper of tropical fruit peeks through too.
Juicy on the palate, the fruit qualities run the gamut from peach to pineapple to lemony citrus – all with a drizzle of honey. The residual sugar gives it some mid-palate weight but it’s balanced nicely by fresh acidity. Well-priced to boot.
