Bedell Cellars 2019 Corey Creek Vineyard Riesling

There is a lot of good-to-great riesling being grown and made in the Finger Lakes region of New York. It’s helped put that region on the map.

It’s a different story on Long Island. There is far less in the ground and it’s certainly not the focus of anyone’s portfolio. Yet, this riesling – made from fruit grown on 30-year-old-vines – is as distinctive as it is delicious.

Extremely aromatic, the nose shows beautiful pear and floral notes along with a unique spiced honey aroma. Pear and apple fruit qualities drive the dry, lighter-bodied palate with a squirt of citrusy acidity and pithiness. There is a bit of richness and texture on the mid-palate with bright, fresh acidity and more of that spice at the edges.

Only 80 cases were bottled. The rest is available on tap at the Corey Creek Tap Room.
