Unionville Vineyards 2015 "Home" Chardonnay

89 points

Made from fruit grown in the winery's original (thus the "Home" moniker) chardonnay block, which is 22 years old.

The nose starts with green apple, gritty pear and citrus aromas that are layered with subtle notes of butterscotch and jasmine. Fresh and lively, the palate is medium bodied and is dominated by ripe apple and pear flavors that show nice intensity and concentration. Just a little classic chardonnay creaminess on the mid-palate leads into a medium-length finish with a subtle nuttiness.

This is a good, well-made East Coast chardonnay, but isn't as expressive as the winery's Pheasant Hill chardonnay.
