Greenvale Vineyards 2014 Vidal Blanc

Greenvale Vineyards 2014 Vidal Blanc

You might think a 2014 vidal tired and well over-the-hill, but this Rhode Island-grown example is far from it.

The nose opens with spiced apple and honey with tropical notes -- mostly pineapple -- just barely in the background. Those fruit qualities switch places on a dry, almost feathery palate, where the tropical pineapple flavors take center stage. There is a minty edge here that brings just a bit of complexity. There is a nice bit of textural complexity here too, with a gently weighty mid-palate and plenty of acidity to cut all that fruit on the finish.
