Mari Vineyards 2016 “Simplicissiumus” Sparkling Riesling

Mari Vineyards 2016 "Simplicissiumus" Sparkling Riesling

90 points

Made with zero dosage, this "brut nature" is focused, just fruity enough and shows hints of yeasty/autolytic notes.

Green apple and citrus blossom scents dominate a nose that also shows a little of that yeastiness.

Fresh and bone dry, the palate mimics the nose in its green apple-forward nature, but there's also lime pulp and zest, more floral notes and great acidity. The yeastiness is there again too, just at the edges, bringing a bit of complexity. The finish is medium-length, dry, fresh and has a subtle green apple Jolly Rancher flavor to it.
