Please join me in welcoming our newest contributor – Annemarie Morse – who will be focusing on the Finger Lakes, with a piece about the recent FLXcursion already underway.
Annemarie was born in Germany, but grew up in New York, first on Long Island and for many years in the Finger Lakes region, where she currently resides with her husband, two daughters and many pets. She is passionate about wine and food and with a desire to explore the topic more fully, she earned a Master’s Degree in Oenology from Cornell University and worked through harvest and blending as an assistant winemaker. Annemarie loves the Finger Lakes area and is a big fan of eating and drinking locally, which she says is easy to do in this beautiful up and coming region.
With her love of sharing and education, she teaches as a Wine Marketing Adjunct Lecturer at Tompkins Cortland Community College, at national conferences and local and industry workshops. She judges internationally and domestically for amateur and commercial wine competitions, is a trained descriptive panelist for the sensory evaluation of artisan cheese, and alcoholic beverages, at Cornell University, and achieved the first level of the Court of Master Sommeliers program. She has written wine and food articles for Edible Finger Lakes and Ithaca Times.
Her company, Wine By Annemarie, LLC provides consulting services to restaurants and classes for staff, private events and the community. Her love of wine has brought her to explore many wine regions of the world including Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Czech Republic, Central Coast & Sonoma regions of California, Willamette Valley of Oregon and the Hill Country of Texas. She hosts wine and food tours to Italy and plans to expand this to other wine regions. She has a love for food and wine, exploring different areas of the world and sharing these experiences with others.
