Long-time readers may remember that back in the NYCR days, I used to organize wine dinners on occasion. There are always a lot of wine dinner happening, so I’ve always tried to make them unique in some way. Either I’d work with a winery to get some library wines involved or get winemakers from other New York regions to come to Long Island for dinners. I hadn’t realized just how long it had been since I did one of these until I dug up those old posts. It’s been a while.
Today, I’m happy to announce the first of what I hope will be a new series of Sunday Suppers at Orto, a rustic Italian restaurant right here in Miller Place, NY where I live – this one featuring a diverse lineup of cabernet franc-based wines from Macari Vineyards.
If you follow me on Instagram (that’s not a pitch, there’s a lot of stuff not related to wine and food there too) you’ve seen plenty of pictures from Orto over the years. Chef/owner Eric Lomando makes just the kind of food my family and I love to eat – and it doesn’t hurt that they are BYOB either.
Eric’s menu, which you can see below, is going to pair beautifully with winemaker Kelly Koch’s wines. I’m really excited to host the only cabernet franc-only wine meal that I’m aware of.
