Buttonwood Grove Winery 2019 Blanc de Franc

87 points

This pale rose made entirely from cabernet franc grapes, is loral on the nose, with hints of white cherry, grapefruit, and tangerine.

Those citrusy notes step forward on a lighter-bodied palate in the form of candied orange peel and pink grapefruit. As it warms, some golden raspberry and even some tropical fruits emerge. There is some residual sweetness here, but it's pretty well balanced nicely by brisk, citrusy acidity.

Even if you prefer your rosé on the drier side, I think this slightly off-dry example is compelling for its brisk acidity and citrus-driven flavors.
