Diversity is the greatest strength of New York wine country. There is so much more to it than Riesling, Cabernet Franc, and Chardonnay. Sparkling wine – made in myriad styles of styles using myriad grapes is the unappreciated star of the state’s wine industry. And it’s made in every corner of the state’s cool-climate wine regions. Join writer Lenn Thompson for this tasting of five wildly different sparkling wines from the Finger Lakes, Hudson River Region, and Long Island.
On Tuesday, November 17, I had the opportunity and honor to host a virtual seminar for the New York Wine and Grape Foundation focused on sparkling wines from across New York.
We tasted through wines from Milea Estate, Pleasant Valley Wine Company, Glenora Wine Cellars, Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery and The Lenz Winery. The session lasted a little over an hour and the recording is now available on NYWGF’s YouTube channel.
Take a look/listen if you’re so inclined.
