Beneduce Vineyards in Pittstown, NJ makes what I consider the Garden State’s best still gewurztraminer, so it isn’t a shock that this pet-nat version is so delicious.
Winemaker Mike Beneduce only made 250 bottles of this first foray into the style – with more on the way in upcoming vintages. Fruit aromas of tangerine, peach, and citrus zest are made more interesting by notes of lychee and jasmine.
Dry, with frothy, soft carbonation, the palate is a bit more citrusy than the nose with layers of pear, peach, lychee, and jasmine. The acidity is fresh and while the finish isn’t long, it doesn’t drop off quickly either.
